MIDI Me
Yes, MIDI me… You know, kind of like a play on words. Austin Powers anyone… *chirp*
For anyone that read my previous post about the Virus, you’ll need a way to hook it up to you keyboard/computer/controller. Incomes the MIDI cable. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It is a way to hook up synths, drum machines, sound modules, samplers, controllers, keyboards, etc. to each other so they can communicate. It is a very basic language that includes messages such as note on, note off, note value, velocity, among others. The MMA (MIDI Manufacturers Association) has standardized the language so everything with MIDI is compatible. You can check their website for more in-depth information on the subject.
Below you can follow the link to purchase one of Hosa’s higher quality MIDI cables. I use Hosa for most of my cabling needs (especially MIDI), and have run into very few (if any) problems with their products. Of course I have a background in electronics, so any problems I do run into I am able to fix, but that’s besides the point. So enjoy the wonderful world of computer music and MIDI!
